👾 Grabby Mobs Mod
All equipment‑carrying mobs always pick up items • zero randomness • full control • Fabric / NeoForge / Forge

📖 Mod Overview & Core Features

🧟 Persistent pickup

  • Always active – every mob that can carry equipment now picks up items 100% of the time.
  • No more RNG – in vanilla MCPE only a small chance; this mod guarantees the behaviour.
  • Perfect for decoration – dress up your captured Zombies, Husks, Skeletons, and more.
  • Works on all equipment – helmets, chestplates, leggings, boots, weapons, even elytra.

📋 Mobs that grab

  • All equipment – Drowned, Husk, Piglin, Piglin Brute, Skeleton, Stray, Vex, Vindicator (no armour), Wither Skeleton, Zombie, Zombie Villager, Zombified Piglin.
  • Special cases – Evoker: no armour; Witch: mainhand only.
  • Consistent experience – no surprises, every mob behaves predictably.

⚙️ Technical highlights

  • Lightweight – minimal performance impact; runs entirely server‑side.
  • No client mod required – works on vanilla clients connecting to a modded server.
  • Fully configurable – toggle per‑mob pickup behaviour via config (optional).

📦 Compatibility

  • Fabric / NeoForge / Forge / Quilt – one mod, multiple loaders.
  • Requires Collective – shared library (included in modpack bundles).
  • Singleplayer & multiplayer – works in both; server‑side only.
  • Part of The Vanilla Experience and Serilum's RPG Bundle.

🛠️ Technical Summary

🧠 Core logic

  • Override pickup chance – sets canPickUpLoot to true for all eligible mobs.
  • Event‑driven – uses EntityJoinLevelEvent and LivingEntityTickEvent to enforce behaviour.
  • Per‑mob granularity – config allows excluding specific mob types if desired.

📦 Loader & dependencies

  • Fabric – requires Fabric API and Collective.
  • NeoForge / Forge – requires Collective (Forge version).
  • Quilt – works with Fabric‑compatible Collective.
  • Cross‑platform – same JAR works on all loaders (multi‑loader).

⚙️ Configuration

  • Config filegrabby_mobs.json in /config/.
  • Toggle per mob – enable/disable pickup for each mob type individually.
  • Default – all supported mobs set to true.

🔧 Advanced notes

  • No client‑side packet – fully server‑authoritative.
  • Works with modded mobs – any mob that extends Mob and has equipment slots.
  • Optimised – minimal tick overhead, only checks when mob is near items.
/* Technical highlights */
• Intercepts vanilla pickup logic and forces `canPickUpLoot` to true.
• Uses mixins (Fabric) / coremods (Forge) to patch the relevant methods.
• Configurable via JSON; hot‑reload supported.
• All mobs listed in the overview are handled by default.
• Server‑side only → perfect for dedicated servers.

📥 Installation Guide

🧵 Fabric & Quilt

RECOMMENDED Lightweight & fast

1. Install the Fabric Loader (or Quilt) for your MCPE version.

2. Download Fabric API and Collective (Fabric version) from Modrinth or CurseForge.

3. Download GrabbyMobs-[version].jar (multi‑loader).

4. Place all three JARs in .minecraft/mods/.

5. Launch using the Fabric/Quilt profile.

Example mods folder:
└── mods/
    ├── fabric-api-0.92.0+1.20.1.jar
    ├── collective-7.0.0-fabric.jar
    └── GrabbyMobs-1.3.0+1.20.1.jar

Note: Collective is mandatory for cross‑loader compatibility.

⚙️ NeoForge & Forge

ALTERNATIVE For modpacks and classic Forge

1. Install the recommended NeoForge (or Forge) version for your MCPE version.

2. Download Collective (Forge/NeoForge version) – required.

3. Download GrabbyMobs-[version].jar (multi‑loader).

4. Place both JARs in the mods/ folder.

5. Launch the NeoForge / Forge profile.

Example mods folder (NeoForge):
└── mods/
    ├── collective-7.0.0-neoforge.jar
    └── GrabbyMobs-1.3.0+1.20.1.jar

⚠️ Important: Without Collective, the mod will not load.

📌 Universal steps & recommendations

  • Modpack: Included in The Vanilla Experience and Serilum's RPG Bundle – ready‑to‑play.
  • Server‑side only: Clients do not need the mod installed – perfect for servers.
  • Performance: Minimal overhead; works well with Sodium, Lithium, and other optimisations.
  • Configuration: Edit /config/grabby_mobs.json to enable/disable specific mobs.
  • Data location: No player data; config is global.
⚡ Quick server setup (dedicated):
1. Download Fabric/NeoForge/Forge server launcher.
2. Add Collective + GrabbyMobs JARs to "mods" folder.
3. Start server (agree to EULA).
4. (Optional) Adjust mob exclusions in /config/grabby_mobs.json.
✅ Fabric/Quilt: Fabric Loader + Fabric API + Collective + GrabbyMobs ✅ NeoForge/Forge: NeoForge/Forge + Collective + GrabbyMobs 📦 Multi‑loader JAR works on all loaders
