Functional Storage - Minecraft Storage Drawers Mod

Functional Storage

The Functional Storage mod is a reimagined and enhanced version of the popular Storage Drawers mod. While inspired by the original, it introduces fresh mechanics, modern visuals, and a huge variety of additional storage functionalities. This mod allows you to compactly store massive quantities of items in a visually clear and organized way. Instead of cluttering your base with countless chests, you can place specialized drawers that not only hold staggering amounts of resources but also display a small icon of the item and a count on the drawer face itself. These drawers can be upgraded to extreme levels, supporting billions of items in a single block! It's the perfect solution for players who love automation, neat storage systems, or simply hate the mess of multiple chests.

The base drawer is a 1×1 block that holds one type of item at a time. Even without upgrades, this single drawer can store up to 2,000 blocks, making it far more efficient than a regular chest. Storing items is simple—just right click with the block in hand, and it will be added to the drawer instantly. Removing items is equally straightforward: left click the item icon on the front to take out one block at a time, or shift + left click to withdraw the entire stack directly into your inventory. This streamlined interaction makes managing bulk resources like cobblestone, dirt, or farm drops effortless, and avoids the constant back-and-forth of opening traditional chests.

The next variation is the 1×2 drawer. It functions almost identically to the 1×1 but has two separate storage slots. Each slot holds half the amount—1,000 blocks per type—allowing you to store and display two completely different items at once. For example, you might dedicate one slot to iron ingots and the other to gold. Just like the smaller drawer, these can be upgraded to ridiculous storage levels, reaching up to 1.1 billion items per slot when fully enhanced. This makes it an invaluable option for organizing common resources without sacrificing storage space.

The largest standard option is the 2×2 drawer. It contains four slots, each capable of holding 512 items in its base form. Although each slot holds less individually, the benefit is in its variety—four separate item types compactly stored in one block space. This is especially useful for farms or storage rooms where you want a central location for multiple resources, like wood logs of different types. All drawers, regardless of size, can be crafted in any vanilla wood style, so you can match them aesthetically with your builds while still maintaining maximum functionality.

Beyond solid item storage, Functional Storage also supports fluid storage. These drawers mirror the designs of 1×1, 1×2, and 2×2, but store liquids like water, lava, or modded fluids. The 1×1 fluid drawer holds 32 buckets, the 1×2 holds 16 buckets per slot, and the 2×2 holds 8 buckets per slot. With upgrades, these can reach a staggering 2.1 million buckets of fluid! The front face of the drawer visually displays the stored liquid, providing at-a-glance recognition of what's inside.

One of the most powerful features is the storage controller. This special block allows you to connect all nearby drawers into a single linked network. By crafting a linking tool, you can right click the controller and then right click each drawer to connect it. Once linked, the controller becomes the central hub—right clicking it with items will automatically send each block into its designated drawer. This system transforms storage into a fast, one-click process where massive inventories can be dumped in seconds. For large bases with farms and automation, the storage controller saves time and effort, making your storage system feel seamless and intelligent.

To further expand your storage, upgrade tiers are available. These range from copper to netherite, multiplying drawer capacity dramatically. A copper upgrade multiplies item capacity by 8 and fluids by 4, while netherite boosts items by 32 and fluids by 16. With up to four upgrades per drawer, a single block can rival entire warehouse-sized chest systems. This incredible efficiency is one of the defining strengths of Functional Storage.

Additional upgrades also exist to make gameplay smoother. For example, the collecting upgrade automatically grabs dropped items from the ground, funneling them into the drawer system without manual effort. This is a game-changer for farming or mob grinders where items constantly drop and need to be stored quickly. It's worth noting that this mod requires the Titanium API to function properly, which you can download here.
